The guide

Each step in the order you'll need it.

01

How Depop works for a home seller

You list from your phone with photos, a description and a size, and buyers find you through search, the feed and the shops they follow. The app handles payment, so you pack and post once you get the sale notification.

Depop leans towards vintage, Y2K, streetwear and one-off pieces. Branded basics sell too. The shops that grow keep a consistent look and a clear niche, such as 90s sportswear or workwear jackets.

02

Fees and what you keep

UK sellers pay no Depop selling fee. The cost on each sale is the 2.9% plus 30p payment processing fee, charged on the item price and the postage. Buyers pay a separate marketplace fee at checkout, so it doesn’t come out of your payout.

Boosted Listings are the main optional cost. Work out your margin on a typical item after processing, the mailer and your time, then decide which pieces can carry a 12% boost.

03

Photos in the Depop style

Depop buyers expect clothes on a body or a mannequin, styled with the rest of an outfit. A flat lay works for accessories, but jackets and jeans sell better worn so the fit shows.

Set up one spot with daylight from the side and a plain backdrop, and shoot every item there. Add close-ups of the label, the fabric tag and any wear, so the buyer sees the condition before asking.

04

Shipping with Evri or your own label

Depop Shipping gives you a tracked Evri QR code, so you can post without a printer. The buyer pays the postage, and tracking marks the order shipped on its own.

If a parcel won’t fit Depop’s size tiers, or you prefer Royal Mail, set shipping to Other and buy your own tracked label. Evri parcels through Depop can be up to 15 kg and 120 cm long, so heavy coats and boots still fit.

05

Packaging buyers remember

A grey or kraft mailing bag is enough for most garments. Fold the piece around tissue so it arrives without creases, and add a small thank-you card with your shop name.

Depop buyers often share unboxings and review the presentation, so a sticker on the tissue and a neat fold, costing pennies, feed straight into your star rating.

06

Keeping a vintage shop organised

One-off stock means every listing is a single item you have to find again. Hang listed pieces on a rail in listing order, or fold them into tubs labelled by category and size.

Put the rail or tub code in a private note or a spreadsheet next to the listing title. The sale notification then sends you to one rail or tub.

Common mistakes

Each one costs you money or reviews, and each has a fix.

  • Shooting jackets flat on the floor hides the fit, so photograph them worn or on a mannequin.
  • Choosing Other shipping and forgetting to add tracking holds up the sale, so add the tracking number as soon as you post.
  • Guessing the parcel size for a heavy hoodie risks a label that doesn’t match the parcel, so weigh the item packed before you list it.
  • Pricing without the processing fee in mind eats into cheap items, so check what you keep on a £10 sale.
  • Letting sold stock sit for days drags down reviews, so post within two days as Depop suggests.

Selling on Depop

Depop buyers scroll a feed of photos and follow shops with a clear style, so your listings work like a lookbook. In the UK you pay payment processing and no selling fee, which leaves more margin on a £15 vintage tee than most listing sites.

Most UK sales go out with Depop Shipping, a prepaid tracked Evri label the buyer pays for at checkout. You get a QR code, pack the order and drop it at an Evri ParcelShop or locker. For the room, you need a photo corner with good light, a rail or tubs to pick from and a small stack of mailing bags.

Questions

Does Depop charge UK sellers fees?

Depop dropped its 10% selling fee for UK sellers on listings created from 20 March 2024. You still pay a payment processing fee of 2.9% plus 30p on the item price and postage. Buyers pay a marketplace fee at checkout. Depop’s seller fees page has the current rates, so check it before you price.

How does Depop Shipping work in the UK?

Pick Depop Shipping when you list and the buyer pays the postage. Once the item sells, Depop emails you a QR code and a printable Evri label. Drop the parcel at an Evri ParcelShop or locker and tracking updates the order for you. It covers mainland UK addresses.

Can I use Royal Mail instead of Evri on Depop?

Yes. Set your shipping to Other and you arrange and pay for the label yourself, then add the tracking number in the app. Use a tracked service, because you can’t edit the tracking once it’s saved. Royal Mail Click & Drop or your own courier account both work.

When does Depop pay me?

With Depop Shipping, payment goes out two business days after delivery or ten business days after the sale, whichever comes first. If you post your own way, it goes out ten business days after delivery. Allow a few more days for the money to reach your bank.

Are Boosted Listings worth paying for?

Boosting pushes a listing higher in search, and you only pay when a boosted item sells. For UK listings created from 23 March 2026 the boosting fee is 12% of the item price. Save it for stock with a healthy margin and leave £5 basics unboosted.

How fast should I post a Depop order?

Depop says most sellers ship within two days, and buyers review quick posting well. Keep packing supplies by your photo spot so a sold item can go in a bag the same evening.

Can buyers bundle several items?

Yes, buyers can add several items from your shop to one bundle and you send them in a single Depop Shipping parcel. Offer a bundle discount in your shop settings so buyers have a reason to add a second piece.
