Best time to sell on Whatnot, Vinted and eBay: the kit, photographed as a studio still life

Before you start

When toys, school uniform, festival clothes and Halloween stock sell, plus Whatnot show times, Vinted Bumps and eBay auction end times.

Timing advice mixes platform rules, calendar facts and things one seller noticed once. We keep them apart: rules come from the platforms' UK help pages, and anything that is seller lore is marked as lore.

Test any timing tip on your own stock for a month before you plan around it.

The guide

Each step in the order you'll need it.

01

The selling calendar

Schools in Scotland go back in mid August and most in England and Wales in early September, so list school shoes, uniform and bags from late July. Festival clothes, wellies and tents sell from spring into summer as UK festivals run through June to August.

Halloween costumes and decorations sell through October. Our Whatnot capture showed 2,300 live viewers in the Halloween category on 5 October 2026 and 2,900 the next night. Christmas toy sales build from October, so our Christmas toy rush setup starts then.

02

Christmas and the posting cut-off

Royal Mail publishes last recommended posting dates for Christmas each autumn. Put them in your listings and stop promising Christmas delivery after the 2nd Class date for anything you send that way.

Stock up on boxes, mailing bags and labels in October. Buy lots of toys in September and October for December resale, and allow for returns in January from gift buyers.

03

Whatnot show times

Whatnot doesn't publish a best time to go live. Many UK sellers schedule evening shows after work and school, which is seller lore based on when their viewers are free.

Our two captures hint at how much counts move: sports cards had 12,200 live viewers at 6:30pm on a Monday and 18,600 at about 1am. Two snapshots can't show a pattern. Schedule shows at the same time each week so followers learn it, and compare your own viewer counts across slots.

04

Vinted Bumps and relisting

A Vinted Bump is a paid boost that moves a listing higher in feeds and search for 3 or 7 days, or until it sells. The price depends on the item and the duration.

Many sellers bump on Sunday evenings or before payday. Vinted publishes no data on timing, so treat that as lore. Bump items with likes first, since someone already wants them. Bump winter coats in October, when buyers search for them.

05

eBay auction end times

eBay UK auctions run for 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10 days, and a 1-day auction needs a feedback score of at least 10. An auction ends at the same time of day it started, and you can schedule a start up to three weeks ahead.

Ending on a Sunday evening is the best-known seller habit on eBay. eBay doesn't publish data to support it, so treat it as lore. Pick an end time when your buyers are awake, and for UK buyers avoid ending in the early hours.

06

Clear the shelves before the season turns

Halloween stock loses most of its buyers once 31 October passes. Cut the price on Halloween stock in the last week of October, and run a bundle or a lot show for whatever is left.

Plan the next season while this one sells. Store leftovers in labelled boxes for next year instead of selling them at a loss.

Questions

When is the best day to end an eBay auction?

Sunday evening is the common seller habit. eBay publishes no data on it. Test two end times with similar items and compare.

How long does a Vinted Bump last?

3 or 7 days, or until the item sells, depending on the one you buy.

What time should I go live on Whatnot in the UK?

Whatnot doesn't say. Evenings are popular with UK sellers. Pick a regular slot and compare your own viewer numbers over a few weeks.

When should I start selling Christmas toys?

From October, as buyers start early and posting cut-offs fall in mid December. Our Christmas toy rush setup covers the packing side.

Do Halloween costumes sell after 31 October?

Far fewer do. Cut prices in the last week of October and store leftovers for next year.

Is January a good month to sell?

Seller lore says gift returns and new year clear-outs bring stock and buyers. We have no data either way, so watch your own sales.
