Why this setup
You import and resell boxed anime scale figures, prize figures and blind boxes, film short unboxings for TikTok Shop, list the rarer pieces on eBay and pack 15 to 60 orders a week in a converted garage.
Figure collectors pay for the box as well as the figure. A dented corner or a crushed window turns a mint sale into a partial refund, so most of the packing money goes on protectors and double-wall board.
On TikTok Shop you sell with short clips: a reveal, a slow turn, the price. Leave the ring light and tripod set up at one end of the garage and you can film a new arrival in minutes.
The kit
Every item, why it’s here and what it typically costs in the UK.
18 in ring light with stand
Daylight in a spare room shifts through the day. Set the ring light once and your items look the same in the evening show as in your photos.
Typical price£35 to £60
See on Amazon150 cm phone tripod with remote
Clothing and trainer shows need a full-body or full-shoe shot from in front. A tripod gets the phone to eye height and the remote starts recording from across the room.
Typical price£18 to £30
See on AmazonClip-on wireless phone mic
Viewers leave a show when they can't hear you. A clip-on mic keeps your voice level while you reach for stock.
Typical price£25 to £45
See on Amazon5-tier steel shelving, 180 cm×2
Floor space runs out before height does. Number the shelves and each item gets an address you can pick from.
Typical price£80 to £140
See on Amazon180 cm folding table
Packing on the bed or the kitchen table means setting up and clearing down every session. A table that stays up lets you leave your supplies where you need them.
Typical price£40 to £65

It takes the standard 100 x 150 mm labels that eBay, Vinted and Whatnot all generate, and generic labels work, so the running cost stays low.

How to lay it out
Where everything goes, so each order moves one way through the room.
- 1
Stock on shelves, boxes upright
Two shelving units run along the dry inside wall with figures standing like books, spines out. Keep the bottom shelf empty or on blocks so nothing sits near the concrete.
- 2
Filming corner at the back
The ring light and tripod face a plain board on the back wall. A small turntable or cake stand gives you the slow spin TikTok buyers like.
- 3
Packing table in the middle
The folding table sits under the light with bubble wrap on a spindle at one end and flat cartons below. The scale and printer share the other end.
- 4
Outbound by the door
Put sealed parcels in a crate by the garage door, sorted by carrier. TikTok Shop and eBay each set their own dispatch deadlines, so empty the crate daily.
The guide
Each step in the order you'll need it.
Checking stock as it arrives
Open the outer carton the day a shipment lands and inspect every box for dents. Photograph damage before you contact the supplier.
Log each figure with a code on a sticker on its protector, and keep stickers off the box itself.

Making short videos that sell
Film new arrivals in batches under the ring light, ten to fifteen seconds each. Show the box from all sides, since collectors check the back for print flaws.
Pin the product link to each clip in TikTok Shop and reply to comments asking about size with a height in centimetres.

Listing rarer figures on eBay
List exclusive, older and imported figures with a small audience on eBay. Use the series, character, maker and scale in the title.
Include photos of the box seams and the base of the box. Buyers want proof it hasn’t been opened.
Packing boxed figures to arrive mint
Protector on, a layer of bubble wrap, then into a carton that leaves padding on every side. If the box touches the carton wall, knocks go straight through to it.
Small prize figures can go in a single-wall carton with paper fill. Scale figures over about 1 kg go double-wall.
Keeping a garage dry enough for card
Run a cheap hygrometer on a shelf and act if humidity climbs. A small dehumidifier costs less than one warped box.
Leave a gap between the shelving and the outside wall so air can move behind the stock.

Meeting dispatch deadlines
TikTok Shop measures how quickly you ship, so pack the day’s orders before the collection cut-off. Check Seller Center for your current dispatch window.
Print eBay and TikTok Shop labels in two separate batches so the parcels don’t swap.
Common mistakes
Each one costs you money or reviews, and each has a fix.
- Posting a boxed figure in a carton with no gap lets every knock reach the window, so leave padding on all sides.
- Buying cheap figures from unknown sellers brings in bootlegs, so source from known distributors.
- Stacking figure boxes flat crushes the lower ones, so stand them upright on shelves.
- Filming in mixed daylight and ring light shifts the colour on the box, so close the garage door and use one light.
- Leaving stock on a concrete floor over winter warps the card, so keep it on shelves.
When to upgrade
At around 30 orders a week, a key light on a desk pole gives softer light than the ring and cuts the glare on box windows. At 50, a camera with an interchangeable lens gives you sharper eBay photos of rare figures than a phone.
- 30+ Elgato Key Light Air MK.2
- 50+ Sony ZV-E10 (body only)
Questions
Do anime figures need box protectors?
For any boxed figure sold as mint or new, yes. A clear protector keeps the corners square and the window unscratched in transit, and buyers often keep it for display.
Can I sell bootleg figures?
No. TikTok Shop and eBay both ban counterfeit goods, and bootleg prize and scale figures are common. Buy from known distributors and keep the invoices.
Can a garage store figure boxes?
A dry, insulated garage works. Keep boxes off the floor and away from the up-and-over door, and watch for condensation on cold mornings, since damp warps card fast.
How do I post a large scale figure?
Put the box in a protector, wrap it in bubble wrap and place it in a double-wall carton with at least 5 cm of padding on every side. Mark it fragile if you like, and pack it to survive being thrown.
How do I film figures for TikTok Shop?
Short and close: the sealed box, the box turning, then the figure out of the box if it’s an opened item. Say the character, the series and the condition in the first few seconds.
Should I open blind boxes before selling?
Sealed blind boxes sell as a gamble. Opened ones sell as a known character, often for more if it’s the rare one. You can do both and film the opening live.
