Two places to sell second-hand and vintage clothing from home, compared on how listing, buying and posting work.
The short answer
List everyday wardrobe pieces on Vinted, where buyers browse and send offers on clothing. Use eBay for rare vintage, branded pieces and anything you want to auction or sell to buyers searching by exact item.

The guide
Each step in the order you'll need it.
How each one sells clothes
On Vinted, buyers scroll a feed of mostly clothing, filter by size and brand, favourite items and send offers. They decide whether to open your listing from the first photo.
On eBay, buyers search by typed terms, so put the brand, garment, size and era in the title. The cover shot counts for less. Put a piece you can’t value up for auction and let bidders set the price.
Postage and labels
On Vinted, the buyer chooses from the shipping options shown at checkout, and you get a label or code to drop off. Read Vinted’s help pages on shipping for the current carriers.
On eBay you choose the service and price in the listing, or use eBay’s own postage labels. You get more control, but you set both on every listing. Weigh a typical parcel before you list so the postage you pick fits.
Running both
You can list on both, with everyday pieces on Vinted and the best vintage on eBay. Keep one stock code per item so you can find it on the shelf whichever site it sells on.
End the listing on the other site the moment a piece sells. If a piece sells twice, you have to cancel one order.
Fees and rules
Fees and buyer protection differ between the two and change over time. Check Vinted’s help centre and eBay’s seller fees page before you price, rather than relying on a figure you read elsewhere.
Questions
Is Vinted or eBay better for vintage clothing?
Rare, collectable vintage suits eBay’s detailed search and auctions. Wearable vintage at everyday prices sells well on Vinted.
Can I list the same item on Vinted and eBay?
Yes. Remove the other listing as soon as one sells to avoid selling it twice.
Where do I check current fees?
Use Vinted’s help centre and eBay’s seller fees page. Both update their pricing, so check before you set prices.
Who pays for postage on Vinted?
The buyer selects and pays for a shipping option at checkout. Check Vinted’s help centre for how this works for your account.
Do I need a business account to sell clothes?
Clearing your own wardrobe and buying to resell are treated differently. If you buy to resell, read HMRC’s guidance on trading income and each platform’s rules for business sellers.
Which platform needs better photos?
Both need clear photos. Vinted buyers choose from the first image in the feed, and eBay buyers also read the title and item specifics.
