The guide

Each step in the order you'll need it.

01

Who you are selling to

Vinted buyers search by brand and size and expect a fair second-hand price. A Next jumper, a pack of baby vests or a Zara coat moves quickly there.

Depop buyers shop for a look. A 90s windbreaker or a faded band tee photographed on a person sells on the style, and the shop’s overall feel brings repeat visits.

02

Listing and photos

On Vinted, a clean first photo with honest colour and a measured flat lay does most of the work. Keep the description to brand, size, measurements and any flaws.

On Depop, worn or styled shots pull more attention, and hashtags or style words in the description help buyers find the item. Plan a little more time per listing.

03

Fees and postage

Vinted’s help centre says selling is free and that buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee. Depop says it removed selling fees for UK sellers, with payment processing still charged. Read both help pages before you price, as fees change.

On Vinted, the buyer picks a shipping option and you get a label or QR code. Depop’s shipping options differ, so check its help pages and weigh a typical parcel before you list.

04

Selling on both

If you sell vintage, you can list the same piece on both apps. Give each item one stock code so you can find it on the rail, whichever app it sells on.

Delete the other listing as soon as one sells. Two buyers for one jacket means a cancellation and a poor review.
