Why we pick it
- Typical price
- £130 to £160
- Works with

A 2,800-lumen edge-lit panel that clamps to the back of the desk and changes brightness and colour from an app, so you can dim it mid-show from your seat, out of frame. Suits Whatnot card sellers running two or three evening shows a week, where a slab needs the same light at 11pm as at 7pm. App control needs a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network; on a tighter budget a pair of plain LED panels does most of the job.
Good for
- Main light on a busy card desk
- Sellers who appear on camera
Not for
- Weekly shows with a fixed setup

The guide
Each step in the order you'll need it.
One light for your face and a wide mat
You stream from a desk two or three evenings a week and want one light that covers your face and the mat across a wide table. The full-size panel lights a seated presenter and a rip mat from one clamp.
Card sellers, beauty sellers showing swatches and anyone streaming after dark get the most from it. At two shows a month, lower-priced panels do the job.
Kit for this step
2,800 lumens, CRI and the clamp pole
The panel puts out 2,800 lumens with a colour range of 2,900 to 7,000 K, and Elgato lists a CRI above 94, which keeps product colours true. It measures 350 by 250 mm and weighs 1.25 kg.
It draws up to 45 W from the mains and connects over 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for control from Elgato's app on a phone or computer. The desk clamp pole extends from 55 to 125 cm.
Clamp height and angle over the mat
Clamp it to the back edge of the desk, raise the pole above head height, and angle it down at about 45 degrees towards you and the mat. Light from above and to one side keeps a glare stripe off holo cards and toploaders.
Match the colour temperature to any daylight in the room, around 5,000 to 5,600 K, and lock your camera's white balance to the same value. A smaller fill light on the other side softens a hard shadow on your face.
Kit for this step
Air MK.2, Mini, LED panels or softboxes
The Elgato Key Light Air MK.2 is smaller and runs from USB-C, so choose it for a narrow desk or as the second light. The Elgato Key Light Mini runs on battery, which suits shelves and fair tables.
Two LED video panels with stands light both sides for far less money but lack app control. Two softbox lights with stands suit clothing sellers who need a whole outfit lit.
Presets and a stable Wi-Fi connection
Before a show, confirm the light appears in the app on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or computer. Busy mesh networks sometimes lose it; a fixed address on your router helps.
Save presets for your face, for cards and for clothes. You dim from the app mid-show without leaning across the desk into frame, and the light holds the setting you saved.
Common mistakes
Each one costs you money or reviews, and each has a fix.
- Angle the panel from above and to one side. Pointed straight at a slab, it bounces glare into the lens.
- Full brightness washes faces out; start near half and raise it in small steps.
- Auto white balance on the camera fights the light, so lock both to the same colour temperature.
- A thin desk edge flexes under the clamp. Test the grip before you raise the pole.
- Join it to your main home network for app control, since guest or captive Wi-Fi can stop it working.

Questions
Do I need one or two Key Lights?
One full-size panel lights a seated presenter well. Add a smaller second light for the mat if card shows still look dim on one side.
Does it work without Wi-Fi?
Power and brightness work from controls on the unit; colour and presets need the app over Wi-Fi.
Is it hot to sit near?
LED panels run cool next to old studio bulbs. The back warms up after a long show.
Will it fit on a narrow desk?
The clamp needs a solid edge. On a narrow or glass desk, a floor stand or the smaller Air panel works better.

Pocket LED video light
Clips to a phone mount or sits on the desk to lift the shadow side of a card or a piece of jewellery. It costs little as a first light and works as a fill once you add panels.

Daylight in a spare room shifts through the day. Set the ring light once and your items look the same in the evening show as in your photos.

Holo cards, foiled boxes and glossy packaging reflect a ring light straight back at the camera. With two panels angled in from each side, the glare falls outside the frame.
Typical price£45 to £75

Softboxes spread light over a big area, so a whole outfit or a rail of stock gets even light with soft shadows. They take more floor space than panels and suit a spare room better than a desk.
