Grey poly bags, paper bags and padded envelopes ranked for the tops, jeans and small accessories that make up most Vinted sales from a UK wardrobe.

About this ranking

A Vinted sale is usually one garment, sometimes a bundle of three or four, going to a buyer who already paid for the postage size at checkout. The bag needs to get the clothes there clean and dry, inside the size the buyer chose.

Three of these picks cost between £8 and £28 for a pack of 100, so a pack lasts most wardrobe sellers a season. Card mailers sit lower down because they suit prints and trading cards far more than clothing.

    Grey mailing bags, 10 x 14 in, 100 pack

    Grey mailing bags, 10 x 14 in, 100 pack

The bag most Vinted clothing goes in. At about £8 to £13 for 100, each one costs pennies, weighs almost nothing and the 10 × 14 inch size takes a folded top or slim jeans. Go for paper if your listings promise plastic-free packing.

    • Single tops, skirts and folded jeans
    • Parcels left in lockers or wet porches
    • Coats and chunky knits that need a bigger bag

Recyclable paper mailing bags, 100 pack

Recyclable paper mailing bags, 100 pack

A recyclable bag for the Vinted seller whose buyers ask about plastic. It runs about £18 to £28 for 100, so roughly double the grey bag. Tape the seal and slip the garment into tissue first, since paper does not like rain.

    • Shops that sell on sustainable packing
    • Vintage pieces you want to arrive looking cared for
    • Heavy denim bundles that strain the seams

    £18to £28

Kraft padded envelopes, D/1, 100 pack

Kraft padded envelopes, D/1, 100 pack

For the small hard extras a wardrobe seller lists: sunglasses, a phone case, a watch or a boxed accessory. The padding stops scuffs, though it adds thickness, so measure a packed one against the parcel size the buyer paid for.

    • Accessories and small boxed items
    • Items that scuff in a thin bag
    • Folded clothing, which fits a cheaper poly bag

    Typical price

    £14to £22

    Board-backed card mailers, C6, 100 pack

    Board-backed card mailers, C6, 100 pack

Only worth a place if your Vinted shop also sells prints, postcards or trading cards. The board backing keeps a flat item from bending in a sorting machine, and the C6 size suits one card or a small print.

    • Prints, photos and trading cards
    • Flat items that must not bend
    • Any clothing sale

The guide

Each step in the order you'll need it.

01

The buyer has already picked the size

On Vinted the buyer chooses the delivery option and the parcel size at checkout, so your bag has to match their choice. A knitted jumper bundled into a bag meant for a small parcel can bulge past it.

Before you list something bulky, fold it into a bag and measure the result. Then set the parcel size on the listing to match, and check Vinted’s shipping help for the current size bands.

02

One bag size for most of a wardrobe

A 10 × 14 inch bag takes a folded T-shirt, a shirt, a skirt or slim jeans. Keep a smaller pack for belts and scarves if you sell a lot of them, and a larger one for coats.

Buying three or four sizes at once ties up money and shelf space. Start with the 10 × 14 and add a size only after you have squeezed the same kind of item into it twice.

03

Lockers, drop-off shops and rain

Many Vinted parcels sit in a locker or a shop bin before collection, and some travel in a van with wet parcels. A poly bag keeps the wet out. A paper bag needs its seal taped and the garment wrapped in tissue or a clear bag inside.

If you use a QR drop-off, the shop sticks the label on for you. Leave a flat, clean panel on the bag so it has somewhere to go.

04

Reusing bags from your own orders

Reused courier bags are fine if the old label and barcode are fully covered or cut away. A scanner that reads the wrong barcode can send your parcel to the old address.

Turn a used bag inside out when it has print on the outside, and check the self-seal strip still sticks. Tape over a weak seal before it fails in transit.

Questions

What size mailing bag do I need for Vinted?

A 10 × 14 inch bag covers most single garments: tops, shirts, skirts and folded jeans. Coats, chunky knits and bundles need a larger bag, so measure them packed before you set the parcel size.

Can I send Vinted clothes in a plastic bag?

Yes. A grey poly mailing bag is the usual choice for folded clothing. It is light, hides the contents and copes with rain.

Are paper mailing bags worth it for Vinted?

They cost about twice as much per bag and some buyers like them. Tape the seal and wrap the garment inside, because paper soaks through in a wet locker.

Can I reuse old parcel bags for Vinted?

Yes, if you cover or remove every old label and barcode. Check the seal still holds and add tape if it does not.

Do I need a padded envelope for Vinted?

Only for small hard items: sunglasses, a phone case, jewellery or a boxed perfume sample. Clothing does fine in a plain poly bag.

My item is too big for the parcel size the buyer chose. What now?

Message the buyer before you post, and check Vinted’s help pages on changing the parcel size for an order. Avoid forcing it into a bag that splits.
