Before you start
Getting a designer piece through moderation, pricing it so offers still leave you a profit, and posting it safely to the authentication centre or the buyer.
Vestiaire Collective is a resale site for designer bags, shoes, jewellery and clothing. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live, and high-street labels are refused.
A sale on Vestiaire takes longer than one on Vinted, but buyers come looking for a named brand. Your work is proof: photos of every stamp, the dust bag, the receipt if you kept it.

Two softbox lights with stands
Softboxes spread light over a big area, so a whole outfit or a rail of stock gets even light with soft shadows. They take more floor space than panels and suit a spare room better than a desk.
Typical price£50 to £90

Consistent white-background photos make your listings look like a shop. The box folds flat when you need the desk back.
Typical price£25 to £40

Designer buyers expect a bag to arrive in a dust bag. The cotton protects the leather while it sits in the outer box.
Typical price£12 to £20

A sheet of tissue costs pennies and changes how a £15 vintage shirt feels on arrival.

Listing and moderation
You add the brand, model, condition and price, with your photos. Vestiaire's moderation team checks the listing and approves it or asks you to fix something.
Fix requests usually concern missing close-ups or a condition grade that doesn't match the pictures. Answer them the same day and the listing goes live sooner.
Photos that prove the piece
Shoot on a plain light background: front, back, base, interior, hardware, and close-ups of the logo, heat stamp and serial or date code. Show every scuff and repair.
Use soft, even light so leather and metal show their true colour. A light tent works for rings, bracelets and small leather goods.
Pricing and offers
Search sold and live listings for the same model in the same condition. Vestiaire shows your payout as you set the price, so work back from the figure you want.
Buyers send offers, and many expect to haggle. Price a little above your floor and reply to offers within a few hours.
Keeping stock in sale condition
Stuff bags with tissue and keep them upright in their dust bags, away from sunlight. Hang coats on a rail with space between them so nothing creases.
Bag the box, cards, receipt and spare links with the item and label them. A missing accessory lowers the price and can fail the check.

Posting a sold item
After a sale you get a prepaid label and a deadline. The buyer's choice at checkout decides whether the parcel goes to a Vestiaire authentication centre or straight to them.
Wrap the item in tissue inside its dust bag, box it with filler so it can't shift, and photograph the packed box with the label on before you hand it in.

Fees, payouts and tax
Listing is free. Vestiaire deducts a commission and a payment processing fee when the item sells, at rates set by price band and country, so check the Selling Fees page in the help centre.
The payout follows once the buyer confirms the item or it passes authentication. Buying pieces to resell is trading, so register for Self Assessment with HMRC once it becomes regular.
Checklist
Run through it before each one goes out.
- 1Check the brand is accepted before you list
- 2Photograph the logo, stamps and serial or date code up close
- 3Keep dust bag, box and receipt with each piece
- 4Pack in a box with tissue and filler, not a soft mailer

Questions
Straight answers to what sellers ask about this.
Which brands can I sell on Vestiaire?
Designer and premium labels. Vestiaire refuses fast fashion, and its brand list in the app shows what it accepts. Sell high-street pieces on Vinted or Depop.
Do I send the item to Vestiaire or to the buyer?
It depends on what the buyer chose. With authentication, the parcel goes to a Vestiaire centre for inspection first. With Direct Shipping, it goes to the buyer.
What if the item fails authentication?
The sale is cancelled and the item comes back to you under Vestiaire's rules. Describe every flaw in the listing and photograph it.
How long do I have to post?
The app gives you a deadline with the prepaid label. Miss it and the sale can be cancelled, so pack the day it sells.
Can I accept a lower offer?
Yes. Accept, counter or decline from the app. Check the payout figure before you accept, because fees come off the agreed price.
Does Vestiaire report my sales to HMRC?
Selling platforms report UK sellers who pass the annual reporting thresholds. A report is information, not a bill, and private sales of your own things are usually not taxable.
