The guide

Each step in the order you'll need it.

01

How Poshmark works for a home seller

You photograph an item, add a title, size and brand, and it lands in your closet. Buyers find it through search, the feeds of closets they follow and shares from other sellers.

Share your own listings and other closets for a few minutes a day, so buyers see you in their feeds.

02

Poshmark fees

The fee is $2.95 under $15 and 20% at $15 or more. That 20% includes payment processing, so there is nothing else to add on a standard sale.

Work back from what you want to keep. A $25 sale leaves $20, so a top you paid $4 for at a thrift store still covers the mailer and your time.

03

Photos that sell in a closet

The first photo is the cover shot in the feed, so make it a clean, bright image of the whole item. A plain wall and daylight from the side do most of the work.

Add close-ups of the brand tag, the size tag and any wear. Buyers ask fewer questions and send fewer returns when the condition is clear.

04

Shipping with the Poshmark label

Each sale comes with a prepaid USPS label for packages up to 5 lb. Print it, tape it flat on the mailer and drop the package at a post office or schedule a free USPS pickup.

Weigh heavy items like boots and coats before you list. If the packed item goes over 5 lb, pick the upgraded label in the listing so the cost is clear before the sale.

Common mistakes

Each one costs you money or reviews, and each has a fix.

  • A $14 sale pays the $2.95 flat fee and a $15 sale pays 20%, so work out what you keep on either side of $15 before you price.
  • A packed coat often exceeds the 5 lb standard limit. Weigh the sealed mailer first to avoid paying the upgrade difference out of your payout.
  • Missing a flaw photo invites returns. Photograph every tag and mark so buyers know exactly what they are buying.
  • Ignoring a buyer offer leaves the item stuck. Reply within a day or send a counter to keep the conversation moving.
  • Unshipped orders drop your seller score. Pack and hand the package to the carrier within a day or two of the sale.

Selling on Poshmark

To sell on Poshmark, you photograph items on your phone, list them in your digital closet and ship using the prepaid label the app provides. You handle the photos and packing, while Poshmark manages payments and buyer disputes.

Every sale ships on a prepaid USPS label that Poshmark emails you, so you don't shop for postage. The buyer pays the shipping on standard packages, and Poshmark takes one fee from the sale price. In a spare room, set up a photo corner with even light, a rail or bins in listing order, and poly mailers.

Questions

Straight answers to what sellers ask about this.

What does Poshmark charge sellers?

Poshmark charges a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% on sales of $15 or more. There is no listing fee. Check the fee page in the Poshmark help center before you price. A $14 sale pays $2.95 and a $15 sale pays 20%.

Who pays for shipping on Poshmark?

The buyer pays a flat shipping rate at checkout for packages up to 5 lb, and Poshmark emails you a prepaid USPS label. Heavier packages need an upgraded label, and you pay the difference out of your earnings.

Do I need a printer to sell on Poshmark?

You need to print the label Poshmark emails you, so a printer helps from day one. A thermal printer with 4 × 6 in labels is quicker than sheets of paper once you ship a few orders a week.

When does Poshmark pay me?

Your earnings are released after the buyer accepts the order or three days after delivery if they do nothing. You can then send the balance to your bank or spend it on Poshmark.

What are Posh Shows?

Posh Shows are live streams inside the app. You show items on camera and buyers purchase them during the show. Start with a phone on a stand, good light and a list of items ready to go.

Should I accept offers or lower my price?

Buyers send offers, so price a little above the number you want to get. You can also send an offer to likers, often with a shipping discount, which moves items people already saved.

Can buyers bundle items from my closet?

Yes. Buyers add several items to a bundle and you can offer a bundle discount in your closet settings. One label covers the bundle as long as the package stays under the weight limit.
