You buy baby clothes by the sack and sell them in bundles. A sack from a nearly new sale holds five sizes mixed with muslins and an odd sock, so start with a tub for each age band and list nothing until it sits in the right tub.

Most of this stock is cotton, so postage stays light. A bundle of ten bodysuits and four sleepsuits folds into a 10 x 14 inch grey mailer, so the printer, a small scale and two packs of bags cover most weeks. Bulky nursery kit goes on eBay as collection only.

## The kit

- **[Heavy-duty double clothes rail](https://sellersetups.com/product/clothes-rail)** (£35 to £60): Hanging stock stays uncreased, so it photographs and ships without ironing. A double rail fits along one wall of a spare bedroom.
- ×2 **[Clear stackable 32 L tubs, 4 pack](https://sellersetups.com/product/clear-storage-tubs)** (£30 to £45): Label each tub with a shelf code and record the code against the listing. A sale then tells you which tub to open.
- **[30 kg digital postal scale](https://sellersetups.com/product/parcel-scale-30kg)** (£12 to £20): Covers the parcels most home sellers ship, up to 30 kg. Choose it when the 40 kg scale is out of stock.
- **[Phomemo thermal label printer](https://sellersetups.com/product/phomemo-thermal-printer)** (£70 to £110): Costs less than most thermal printers and fits on a shelf. It prints the same 100 x 150 mm labels, so your label stock carries over if you upgrade later.
- **[100 x 150 mm thermal labels, 250 roll](https://sellersetups.com/product/thermal-labels-roll)** (£8 to £13): Put a roll on a holder or inside a printer with a roll bay to save space on a crowded desk. Each label costs about 3p to 5p, a little more than fanfold.
- **[Grey mailing bags, 10 x 14 in, 100 pack](https://sellersetups.com/product/grey-mailing-bags)** (£8 to £13): Self-seal poly bags add almost no weight, so a single garment posts as a small parcel. You can't see through the opaque grey film, and a label lies flat on it.
- **[Recyclable paper mailing bags, 100 pack](https://sellersetups.com/product/paper-mailing-bags)** (£18 to £28): Costs about twice as much per bag as grey poly, and buyers notice the paper. It suits vintage and handmade shops that sell on character.
- **[Small single-wall boxes, 25 pack](https://sellersetups.com/product/single-wall-boxes)** (£8 to £14): Use these for boxed toys and beauty sets that a padded bag would crush, when double-wall board costs more than you need.
- **[Brown packing tape, 48 mm x 66 m, 6 rolls](https://sellersetups.com/product/brown-packing-tape)** (£5 to £9): 48 mm is the width tape guns take. Six rolls last a shop sending a few boxes a week for a few months.
- **[150 cm phone tripod with remote](https://sellersetups.com/product/phone-tripod)** (£18 to £30): Clothing and trainer shows need a full-body or full-shoe shot from in front. A tripod gets the phone to eye height and the remote starts recording from across the room.

## How to lay it out

### Age band tubs under the window

Two four-packs of clear tubs, one per band from newborn to 18 to 24 months, stacked with the youngest at the top. Write the band on the lid and on the front so you can read it with the lid off.

### Rail for the pieces that sell alone

Snowsuits, pramsuits, branded coats and party dresses hang on the rail. They photograph better on a hanger and stay uncreased while they wait for a single listing.

### Photo spot on the bed

A plain sheet on the bed and the phone on its tripod above it. Lay each bundle out in rows of three so a parent can count the pieces from the first photo.

### Packing shelf by the door

Mailers, the label printer and the scale on one shelf. Fold each bundle into a bag as soon as it sells, label it and leave it in a basket for the next drop-off.

## Sorting a nearly new sale haul in one evening

Tip the whole sack onto the bed and sort by the size on the label. Brands size differently, and parents filter by the label.

Pull out three piles as you go: single listings for the rail, stained or damaged pieces for the textile bank, and everything else into its age band tub. Do the washing the next morning in loads by colour.

## Building a bundle a parent wants

Group by size first, then by season and colour. A 6 to 9 months winter bundle of sleepsuits, two cardigans and a hat answers a search a parent makes in October.

Count the pieces into the title and list each item in the description with its brand. Photograph the bundle laid out, then add two close-ups of the best labels.

## Checks before any item goes in a tub

Hold each piece up to a window to find faint milk stains on the chest. Check each popper and zip, and pull at buttons on knitwear.

Cut or remove any cord from a hood or neck. Keep clothes with loose buttons for older children and out of newborn bundles, where a baby can mouth them.

## Posting bundles and the odd bulky item

A folded bundle under 2 kg goes in a grey mailer, weighed and labelled. Vinted buyers pick and pay for the service, so print the label the app gives you. Use Click & Drop or the eBay label tool for eBay orders, with Evri as a cheaper option for lighter bundles.

Bouncers, play mats and baby carriers go in a single-wall box with the straps tied down. Prams, cots and high chairs stay as collection only.

## Pricing by age band and season

Newborn and 0 to 3 months bundles sell fastest because babies outgrow those sizes in weeks. Larger sizes and school uniform move more slowly and need a lower price per piece.

Hold winter stock back until September and summer stock until April. A snowsuit listed in June can sit for months, while the same one listed in October goes in days.

## Recalls and nursery kit

Search the product recall list on GOV.UK with the brand and model before you list any baby carrier, bouncer, high chair or travel cot. Keep recalled items off sale.

Photograph the model label and any approval marks. Parents ask for the year of manufacture, so look for it on the frame or under the seat before they do.

## Common mistakes

- Sorting by how big an item looks instead of the size on the label, so a 9 to 12 months buyer opens a bundle with two pieces that do not fit.
- Putting a hoodie with a drawstring into a toddler bundle when the cord should have come out first.
- Listing a winter bundle in May and wondering why it sits while the same bundle would sell in a week in October.
- Selling a pram by post and losing the profit to a courier quote for an oversized box.
- Leaving plain vests as single listings that each cost more to label and post than they sell for.

## When to upgrade

At 25 bundles a week the tubs start to overflow, so a steel shelving unit gives each band its own shelf and frees the floor. At 40, crosslisting software puts a branded coat on Vinted and eBay from one listing and removes it from both when it sells.

- 25+ orders a week: **[5-tier steel shelving, 180 cm](https://sellersetups.com/product/shelving-unit)** (£40 to £70): Floor space runs out before height does. Number the shelves and each item gets an address you can pick from.
- 40+ orders a week: **[Vendoo](https://sellersetups.com/product/vendoo-crosslisting)**: Suits you if you list the same stock on eBay, Vinted and Depop and want to stop retyping it. Its sale detection can delist an item from the other sites once it sells on one.

## Questions

### How many items should go in a baby clothes bundle?

Ten to fifteen pieces in one size and season dress a baby for a week and still fit a small parcel. Weigh a finished bundle before you list it, because jeans and fleece push a bag past the lighter weight bands.

### Should I sell sleepsuits with poppers that have gone stiff?

Fix or remove them. A popper that will not close is a fault a buyer can claim on, and it is the first thing a parent tries. Bundle the item as a spare only if you say so in the description.

### Is it worth listing single vests and bodysuits?

Rarely. Plain multipack pieces sell for so little that a single label costs more than the vest. Put them in bundles and keep single listings for named brands, outdoor wear and anything new with tags.

### Can I sell a used baby sleeping bag?

Yes, if the zip works, the fabric is clean and the tog rating and size label are readable. Parents check the tog and the age range, so photograph the label. Leave out bags with loose threads inside the neck or armholes.

### Do I need to wash clothes before listing them?

Wash everything from a sale or a hand-me-down sack on a non-bio cycle, dry it fully and fold it. Parents ask about pets, smoke and detergent, so answer all three in the description before anyone messages.

### Should I sell a pram or high chair through this setup?

Sell them on eBay as collection only. They will not fit a grey mailer, and a buyer checking the brakes and the straps in person leaves happier. Check the government product recall list for the model first.

### Which items should I leave out?

Used car seats you cannot vouch for, used cot mattresses, cot bumpers and hoodies with drawstrings at the neck. Safety charities advise against the first three second hand, and hood cords on young children's clothing are a strangulation risk.
