# What to sell from home

> Every category we cover, from trading cards to house clearance finds, with the setups, packaging and live Whatnot demand for each.

## Choosing what to sell

Start with stock you already understand. A card collector can judge a corner by eye and spot a fake holo; a newcomer pays for that knowledge in returns and refunds. Vintage denim, trainers and coins work the same way: knowing the stock earns you more than any kit on this site.

Then look at the size and weight of a typical sale. Cards, coins and jewellery fit a Large Letter, so postage stays low and one desk drawer holds a month of packaging. Homeware, boxed toys and camping gear go as parcels, need boxes and void fill, and take over a corner of the room. Check Royal Mail's current size guide before you price anything.

Next, think about how buyers shop for it. Collectibles sell well live, because buyers want to see the card turn under the light and bid against each other. Clothing sells on photos and search: a buyer filters by size and brand, scrolls, and decides in a minute. Choose the stock first, then the platform.

Finally, count your hours. A cheap paperback and a designer jacket take about the same time to photograph, list and pack. Low-price stock pays in volume or bundles; high-price stock pays per order but ties up your cash for longer.

## Reading the cards

Each card shows how many of our setups cover that category and, where Whatnot UK has a matching browse category, how many people were watching live shows in it at the last capture. Viewers measure attention on one platform at one moment. Use them to compare categories and to pick which ones to look at closer; they don't forecast sales.

## Cards and collectibles

Small, valuable and often sold live. Protection and good light come first.

- [Trading cards](https://sellersetups.com/sell/trading-cards) (3 setups, 39000 watching on Whatnot): Pokémon, sports and TCG singles. Small, light and easy to damage, so you need card protection and Large Letter postage.
- [Toys and collectibles](https://sellersetups.com/sell/toys) (4 setups, 13500 watching on Whatnot): Boxed and loose toys in odd sizes, packed from a station with boxes, padding and an accurate scale.
- [Coins and banknotes](https://sellersetups.com/sell/coins) (1 setup, 7200 watching on Whatnot): Commemorative coins, bullion and notes. Small, valuable and judged under a loupe, so protection and photos matter most.
- [Needoh and squishy toys](https://sellersetups.com/sell/squishy-toys) (1 setup, 2550 watching on Whatnot): Squeeze toys, fidgets and squishies. Light and cheap to post, sold in bundles and on fast live shows.
- [Football shirts and memorabilia](https://sellersetups.com/sell/football-shirts) (1 setup, 409 watching on Whatnot): Retro and current shirts, scarves and signed items, sold on clear photos of badges, tags and condition.
- [Funko and vinyl figures](https://sellersetups.com/sell/figures) (1 setup, 2135 watching on Whatnot): Boxed vinyl figures and collectibles. The box is half the value, so you need box protectors and an outer box.
- [Comics and manga](https://sellersetups.com/sell/comics) (1 setup, 2174 watching on Whatnot): Single issues, graphic novels and manga volumes. Bagged, boarded and boxed, so spines and corners arrive sharp.
- [Japanese imports](https://sellersetups.com/sell/japan-imports) (1 setup): Japanese cards, figures, snacks and fashion bought in Japan and resold in the UK. Landed cost decides your margin.

## Fashion and accessories

Sold on photos and sizes. You need a rail, a steady photo spot and quick drop-offs.

- [Vintage clothing](https://sellersetups.com/sell/vintage-clothing) (4 setups, 28900 watching on Whatnot): Hundreds of one-off garments with no duplicates, kept in order with rails, photos and a numbering system.
- [Jewellery and watches](https://sellersetups.com/sell/jewellery) (1 setup, 6200 watching on Whatnot): You sell rings, chains, earrings and watches small enough to lose, so you need boxes, labels and tracked postage.
- [Beauty](https://sellersetups.com/sell/beauty) (1 setup, 6100 watching on Whatnot): Small, often liquid stock that needs clean photos, protective packing and a tidy backdrop for videos.
- [Trainers](https://sellersetups.com/sell/trainers) (1 setup, 2700 watching on Whatnot): Trainers are bulky and valuable: start with double-wall boxes and shelving.
- [Designer handbags](https://sellersetups.com/sell/handbags) (1 setup, 3500 watching on Whatnot): Leather bags and accessories. Buyers pay for condition and trust, so dust bags, boxes and close-up photos come first.

## Home, craft and everyday

Bulkier parcels in mixed shapes. Plan for boxes, void fill and floor space.

- [Homeware and decor](https://sellersetups.com/sell/homeware) (1 setup, 5400 watching on Whatnot): Lamps, ceramics and glassware. Bulky, fragile and costly to break, so start with strong boxes and padding.
- [Handmade and crafts](https://sellersetups.com/sell/handmade) (1 setup, 2500 watching on Whatnot): Jewellery, prints, candles and makes. Presentation sells the piece, so packaging is part of the product.
- [Crystals and minerals](https://sellersetups.com/sell/crystals) (1 setup, 1100 watching on Whatnot): Tumbled stones, clusters and specimens that chip easily and weigh more than they look.
- [Food and drink](https://sellersetups.com/sell/food-drink) (1 setup, 1800 watching on Whatnot): Imported sweets, snack boxes and treats. Sort out registration, labels and dates before you go on camera.
- [Pet supplies](https://sellersetups.com/sell/pets) (1 setup, 153 watching on Whatnot): Collars, toys, beds, grooming kit and treats. Buyers want sizes, materials and proof it suits their animal.
- [Baby and children](https://sellersetups.com/sell/baby-kids) (1 setup, 1600 watching on Whatnot): Preloved baby clothes, toys and kit. Parents buy in bundles by age, so sort by size and check every item against safety recalls.
- [Halloween and seasonal](https://sellersetups.com/sell/halloween) (1 setup, 2400 watching on Whatnot): Costumes, decorations and props. A short selling season, so stock, list and post on a tight calendar.

## Tech, games and media

Tested, graded and described in detail. Sturdy boxes protect your margin.

- [Electronics and gadgets](https://sellersetups.com/sell/electronics) (1 setup, 11000 watching on Whatnot): Phones, consoles and accessories that need solid protection, testing notes and secure storage.
- [Books, games and vinyl](https://sellersetups.com/sell/books-media) (1 setup, 2754 watching on Whatnot): Pack heavy media rigid and weigh it to the gram, so it arrives intact and costs less to post.

## Clearance, bulk and outdoors

Job lots, house clearances and big items. Your sorting and storage set your profit.

- [Wholesale, job lots and pallets](https://sellersetups.com/sell/wholesale) (1 setup, 3800 watching on Whatnot): Job lots, liquidation stock and returns pallets bought in bulk, then split into single sales. Your margin is set by the price you pay for the lot.
- [House clearances and storage units](https://sellersetups.com/sell/storage-units) (1 setup, 3200 watching on Whatnot): Abandoned storage units, house clearance finds and mystery lots, sorted and resold piece by piece.
- [Outdoors](https://sellersetups.com/sell/outdoors) (1 setup, 3500 watching on Whatnot): Tents, walking boots, fishing tackle and camping kit. Bulky, seasonal and sometimes restricted in the post, so check what can travel before you list.
- [Sporting goods](https://sellersetups.com/sell/sporting-goods) (1 setup, 1500 watching on Whatnot): Golf clubs, gym kit, bike parts and team sports gear. Most of it is heavy or oddly shaped, so price the postage before the item.

## Questions

### What sells well from home in the UK?

Small, light stock with a decent price per item suits a spare room: trading cards, coins, jewellery and branded clothing. Each one fits a Large Letter or small parcel and stores in a drawer or on a rail. The Whatnot figures on this page show where live buyers are watching today.

### Can I sell more than one category?

Yes. Pair your main category with a second one that shares the same packaging, such as cards with comics, or vintage clothing with handbags. Shared packaging keeps your stock of mailers small and your reorders simple.

### Do I need to register as a business?

Selling unwanted things from your own home is not trading. Buying stock to resell for profit usually is, and HMRC expects you to register for Self Assessment once your trading income passes the trading allowance. Check HMRC's current guidance before your first full year.

### Are some items banned from sale?

Every platform keeps its own list of prohibited and restricted items, and Royal Mail has a separate list of things you can't post, including some batteries, aerosols and perfumes. Check both lists before you buy a new kind of stock.

### How do I pick packaging for my category?

Open the category page. Each one lists a packing method, the packaging we use and the usual postage service, and the packaging builder works out how much you need for your weekly orders.
