Suits you if you keep hundreds of items in tubs and lose time hunting for the one that sold. Scan a QR label on a box with your phone to see what is inside, then update counts as you go.

## Who Sortly suits

Sortly suits you if your stock sits in tubs, shelves and boxes across the house. Past a few hundred items, you can't hold every location in your head.

It fits one-off or mixed stock such as vintage clothing and toys. With thousands of card singles, a card-specific tool may suit you better, since Sortly tracks items rather than set lists.

Sortly doesn't list or crosspost, so if you sell on several platforms, run a crosslister alongside it.

## Folders, scanning and the free plan cap

Sortly organises stock in folders that can mirror your space: a folder per shelf, a subfolder per tub. Each item holds photos, quantity, notes and custom fields such as purchase price.

The phone app scans barcodes and QR codes, so you can scan a label on a tub and see its contents. Label printing sits on paid plans; see which tier includes it.

Review sites report the free plan as limited to one user and 100 items. If you hold more than that, you will need a paid tier, so confirm the current prices on Sortly's site.

## Mapping shelves and tubs into folders

Number your shelves and tubs before you open the app. A scheme such as S1-T3 for shelf one, tub three is enough, with a matching folder for each.

Add each item as you photograph it for listing, not in one giant session. It takes a few seconds per item, and you skip a weekend of data entry later.

Stick a printed QR or barcode label on the end of each tub, facing out. For each sale, search the item in Sortly, read the tub code, scan the tub to confirm, and pick.

## Crosslisters or a spreadsheet instead

Vendoo includes inventory features alongside crosslisting, so if you list on several sites you may not need a separate inventory app.

List Perfectly and Crosslist hold a SKU field where you can type a location code. Under 200 items, that plus a spreadsheet often does the job.

A spreadsheet only stays right if you edit it at each sale, so it suits a shop that sells a few items a day.

## Keeping counts accurate

Scan the item and reduce the count as you pick, before you pack.

Spot check one shelf each month. Count what is there, compare with Sortly and fix the gaps before they spread.

Fill in the purchase price field. At tax time, a record of what each item cost makes your profit figures easier to work out.

## Common mistakes

- A QR label on the tub lid means pulling the tub out to scan it. Put it on the end, facing out.
- If you skip the monthly spot check, small count errors add up until a sold-out item still shows as available.
- If you leave counts until the end of the day, sold items still read as in stock. Update at the moment you pick.
- If you hold more than 100 items, you pass the free plan's reported cap, so check Sortly's current limits against your stock count.
- If you dump new stock in one unsorted folder, you hunt for it later, so file each item in its tub's folder.

## Questions

### Does Sortly list items on eBay or Vinted?

No. Sortly tracks where stock is and how many you have. Use a crosslister or the marketplace itself to list.

### Can I use my phone to scan tubs?

Yes, the Sortly app scans barcodes and QR codes with your phone camera.

### How many items does the free plan hold?

Review sites report a 100-item cap on the free plan. Confirm on Sortly's current pricing page before you rely on it.

### Can I print my own QR labels?

Label creation is part of Sortly's paid plans. You can also print labels another way and link the code to a folder.

### Is Sortly worth it for under 100 items?

No. A numbered tub system and a note in each listing covers that size of stock.
